The radius for placing the drink held in one’s hand should not exceed the 1.5-meter sidewalk boundary. The other hand, carrying the heavy pétanque balls, should be relieved as quickly as possible after each throw. Seating areas invite players to pause the game, engage in conversation, and gradually let the score fade into the background. Everything surrounding the court is designed to ease the players and create moments of rest. The BOULODROME is conceived as a metaphor for a non-competitive sporting practice, free from performance pressure. It is about physical activity as a leisurely pastime, where the outcome of the game is never of real importance. The rules to be ignored can be found on the accompanying site plan.
